Chamber music concert by Szabolcs Illés and Miklós Spányi

6 December 2025. 6:00 pm
Budapest Music Center - Library
1093 Budapest, Mátyás utca 8.

In this program, we present a selection of chamber music by the famous Benda brothers of Czech origin, who were key figures in Berlin's musical life in the 18th century. Franz (František) Benda, one of the most prominent violinists of his time, joined the Berlin court orchestra in 1733 and was concertmaster from 1740 until his death. From 1750, Georg Anton (Jiří Antonín) Benda became famous as court conductor and opera composer to Frederick the Great. Joseph Benda became violinist of the Berlin court orchestra from 1742 and concertmaster after Franz's death. This concert will present some of their rich output of sonatas and sonatinas for violin and keyboards.
