Gravity - Contemporary American Compositions and Their Reflections

13 December 2025. 6:00 pm
Budapest Music Center - Library
1093 Budapest, Mátyás utca 8.

Our evening will take the listener into the diverse world of contemporary music, where works by American and Hungarian composers will enter into dialogue with each other. The concert will feature works by Judd Greenstein, Missy Mazzoli and David Lang, as well as new compositions by András Emszt and Ádám Király - two ensemble pieces and a solo piano piece. The quintet - flute, clarinet, electric guitar, piano and double bass - is the basic instrumentation of the works, inspired by the orchestration of American compositions, and its exciting sound world will integrate the programme into an organic whole.
The evening aims to offer an alternative perspective on the interconnections of contemporary composition and to create a dialogue between different musical schools of thought. The concert will feature personal reflections by Hungarian composers, helping the audience to understand and absorb the works in a deeper way.
