Chamber Music, So Close - Classicus String Trio, András Kemenes
4 December 2025, 7:00 p.m.
Liszt Academy - Solti Hall
1061 Budapest, Liszt Ferenc tér 8.
For the past 15 years, Péter Tornyai and Tamás Zétényi have played together in various formations named Classicus, performing hundreds of concerts. One memorable project was their Das Wohltemperierte Streichquartett, where, with the Classicus Quartet, they performed all the representative works of the string quartet repertoire over a few years. Since the summer of 2023, they have been performing as a string trio with Eszter Kökény, and this will be their first concert at the Liszt Academy in this formation. True to Classicus tradition, their program is an exciting blend of classical and modern music. The evening will feature two of Mozart’s piano quartets, with their former teacher, András Kemenes, performing the keyboard part. Alongside the works of the great classical master, a cycle by one of the 20th century’s most significant composers will also be heard, reimagined. Péter Tornyai’s arrangement of Ligeti’s Musica ricercata cycle casts the piano cycle in a new light, highlighting its diversity.
